Coaches
Our club retains a number of qualified coaches responsible for the overall training of our athletes. They have various levels of technical, theory and practical education and experience. All are recognized by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
The coaches oversee our athletes in most other aspects of cross-training both aerobic and anaerobic; such as running, weight training, Pilates and other forms of exercise. Our Team BC coaches are in consultation with their teams' personal trainers at all times. The coaches maintain an awareness of the quality and quantity of cross-training their athletes are doing. They always provide feedback for the benefit of the athlete.
The coaches begin teaching the athletes at a young age the importance of living a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on good nutrition and adequate rest. There are regular meetings held with the athletes to discuss either team or individual goals and any difficulties that may arise within the team. Parent meetings are held to keep everyone informed. The head coach attends the club's executive meetings to promote communication between the club and its' coaches.
Coach Leaders
BCAQ has coach leaders who are responsible for different groups of teams. In cooperation with the board of directors and the various committees, they assist in decisions relating to the establishment of programs and pool schedules, participation in competitions, make-up of the duets and teams, evaluation of the athletes and planning for the future of BCAQ. They also assist, support, supervise and evaluate the coaching staff. They take part in the hiring process and act as a liaison between coaches and the board.
